LLLOOOT! 1.4 Released

We are releasing a small update to procedural, turn-based stealth game par excellence LLLOOOT! Here are the release notes:

  • Level generation tweaks:
    • About 20% of the time there will be a second, smaller fortress in the level lineup
    • Building dimensions use more of a normal distribution, so they will be more likely to be in the middle of their allowed ranges
    • Manor courtyard placement altered a bit for slightly more randomness
    • More variety in choosing between the two manor tilesets
    • Fix a spot where the level generator was (rarely) using the global random-number generator instead of the seeded random-number generator
  • Fix a bug where touch menu buttons could become stuck.
  • Inhibit the "Tick tock!" and "Late!" notifications on the first level, since it's a tutorial level and we want to limit how much we throw at the player.
  • Show both the loot ticker and map-seen percentage when there is room on the status bar.
  • On newer iPhones, move the status bar up so the Home Bar doesn't cover it, and color the unsafe zone (where the camera bump lives) black instead of white so it doesn't clash with the game.
  • Remove a handful of dialogue lines that identify the thief as male. The thief is now more of a mystery than ever!

We're thrilled that people are playing and enjoying this game, and we have larger updates planned. More to come!

i thought i noticed some changes to generation! guess it was the “second, smaller fortress” thing (same style as final level, but around mid-game) i also noticed that in one case a guard was sitting inside the locked treasure room, that was a fun little surprise (they showed through the wall when i got close, like usual)

this game’s got a really good core and i’m glad to hear you’ve still got more stuff planned!

and thanks for the gendering fix :3

A guard sitting in the dark inside the vault does happen occasionally. (Any chair, even one in storage, is fair game for putting a stationary guard in.) Not new to this update but it is amusing when it happens. What are they doing in there? My favorite is when a guard ends up investigating into the vault, spots an unlit lamp in there and lights it up.

My current project is a level style with a lot of small buildings separated by narrow alleyways. It is necessitating some fairly large changes to how things are represented.
